Conditions of Entry
In submitting this nomination, the person making the nomination affirms they have complied with the following conditions of entry:
Nominees for the award must be full-time professional employee drivers or truck owner/operators currently working as a local, medium-distance or long-distance driver. Driver trainers are not eligible.
Nominations can be made by anyone, but self-nominations will not be accepted.
A minimum of 10 years continuous experience as a professional driver.
A good driving record with a demonstrated focus on safety. A current copy of a road of a road agency traffic record covering 10 years must be submitted with the nomination.
One or more signed references from authoritative sources, such as the nominee’s fleet manager or chief executive must accompany the nomination.
Previous winners in this award category are not eligible.
Selection Criteria
This section is an integral part of the judging process. The ATA along with the National Trucking Awards Judging Panel encourage and urge nominators to provide detailed responses to each section and to pay close attention to the requirements for supporting documents and files.
Personal Attributes and Work Experience
- Describe the person’s character, personality and interests.
- Career History – list employers, years served, and position held.
Demonstrated Contribution to the Industry
- A high degree of pride in their personal presentation and their vehicle’s presentation.
- A high degree of skill and experience in freight handling relevant to their field.
- A professional attitude towards their job, their customers and the industry as a whole.
- A strong interest in furthering the professional image of the industry, as demonstrated by their actions and interests.
Supporting Documents and Files
- Nominations must be accompanied by a good quality, electronic photograph that can be used for publicity purpose (head and shoulders).
- Nominations must include a current copy of a road agency traffic record covering 10 years.
- Nominations must include one or more references from authoritative sources, such as the nominee’s fleet manager or chief executive.
Judging Process
Finalists may be required to participate in a videoconference with the judging panel in March 2026.
Prize
The winner will receive $5,000 cash, a trophy and will be hosted* to attend Trucking Australia 2027, including the ATA Foundation Sponsors’ Gala Awards Dinner.
No components of the prize package are transferable.
