David Smith is Chair of the Australian Trucking Association and managing director of D&S Smith Haulage, a family owned transport company based in Tumby Bay on the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia.

David has worked in the transport industry for more than 40 years as a driver, business owner and industry leader. He is a former President of the Livestock and Rural Transporters Association of South Australia and the Australian Livestock and Rural Transporters Association.

The ATA has reset its policy priorities under David’s leadership, with a new policy charter calling for massive improvements in road safety and the industry’s productivity.
