Acting Assistant Commissioner Chris Stream joined the Queensland Police Service in 1989, and over the last 34 years has worked across the state in various general duties and specialist roles. This has also included roles in fleet management, as he also is a qualified mechanic.

Acting Assistant Commissioner Stream has overseen large operational areas including the North Brisbane District. He was seconded into the role of Chief Superintendent Road Policing Group in August of 2022. This portfolio oversees the Road Policing Group which consists of the Road Safety Camera Office, Specialist Programs, Calibration Laboratory, Forensic Crash Units across the state, the Heavy Vehicle Road Operations Program Office and the Road Policing Task Force.

In January 2023, he was seconded to the role of Acting Assistant Commissioner, Road Policing and Regional Support Command. This Command is responsible for strategic management of road policing and supporting operational road safety activities in conjunction with 15 police districts.

The Command also provides other services including police communication centres and the central contact centre known as Policelink.
