Maintaining road links through natural disasters

April 19, 2024

Start: 11:00 am

End: 12:00 pm

The recent bushfire that cut the Eyre Highway for four days highlights the vulnerability of Australia’s transcontinental road and rail freight routes.

These freight routes are held together by the courage of Australia’s emergency services, transport operators who wear the cost of enormously long detours and the willingness of drivers by stay away from home for weeks at a time.

In this session, you’ll explore practical solutions for making our transcontinental road and rail links more resilient.
