There is a lack of research on the pavement wear caused by next generation wide load base tyres. This gap has impeded the evolution of regulations to allow the wider use of these tyres where they are desirable.

This session will showcase the research commissioned by the Truck Industry Council and conducted by the National Transport Research Organisation in comparing the pavement wear of super single and dual tyre combinations. The discussion will also cover how regulations ought to be changed to encourage the wider adoption of super single tyres and the safety and operational benefits these tyres can provide.
