Dion’s decade-long career in the automotive industry commenced in top level Australian motorsport, designing componentry and analysing performance data for the Volvo homologation team in V8 Supercars.

This was followed by a stint at Ford Motor Company, laying out new vehicle concepts to assess mechanical feasibility, production cost and attribute performance outcomes for fledgling new vehicle programs. Outside his day job, Dion’s passion for tinkering led to him completing ADR-compliant body conversions and complete powertrain modernisations on light commercial vehicles.

Dion joined Smedley’s Engineers in 2021 and went on to become the Design, Testing and Simulation Engineering Manager; he is proud of the substantial vehicle testing and simulation capability that his team has built to find solutions to a broad spectrum of engineering problems throughout the industry.
