Michael Ross is manager of the Vehicle Standards team at the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator and has been with the organisation since 2017.

Previously, Michael worked for more than 10 years within the vehicle standards area at the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads. He has 25 years’ experience in the automotive industry as a mechanic, engineer, and policy/technical adviser.

The Vehicle Standards team is responsible for the maintenance and administration of the Heavy Vehicle (Vehicle Standards) National Regulation, Vehicle Standards Bulletin 6 and the Heavy Vehicle Inspection Manual. It also includes an operational component, which assesses complex modification, in-principle support and vehicle standards exemption permit applications.
