ATA InRoads Workforce Program
WELCOME TO THE ATA INROADS
WORKFORCE PROGRAM
Sponsored by the ATA’s long-time foundation sponsors Volvo, NTI and bp, as well as Teletrac Navman, this career attraction program provides information on careers within the trucking industry.
Considering a career as a truck driver?
Are you or someone you know considering a career in the trucking industy?
Truck drivers are essential workers that keep Australia moving. Whether it’s during natural disasters like floods and bush fires or nationwide events like the Covid-19 lockdowns, truck drivers ensure important supplies – like food and medicine – reach where they’re needed most. It’s a demanding job, but one filled with adventure, opportunity and the chance to see Australia up close!
What is it like driving a truck?
While it is different from driving a standard vehicle due to its size, handling and how other road users behave, it’s a skill that drivers take pride in mastering every day.
The ATA’s SafeT360 videos provide insights into what it’s like to drive a truck while raising awareness for other road users. For example, did you know that due to its size, a truck is legally allowed to use two lanes to turn and that’s why you should never overtake a turning truck?
